Light does not work correctly after replacement

The light underneath the microwave went out. This is after a few years of use. When I attempted to remove it, the bulb came out without the base. I had to turn off power to pry it out. The replacement bulb, as others stated, does not turn completely off. I removed the bulb. Unfortunately, I see that light as critical.

Light bulb blew within first few months

We have only had this microwave for a few months and the light the bulb blew. While trying to unscrew the bulb, it came apart. Glass separated from base and we had to unscrew the whole bottom plate to get it out. Really frustrating and disappointing to have to put this much effort into basically a brand new microwave.

Don™€™t plan on having a cooktop light!

The microwave works fine! But not the cooktop light! Manufactured July 2020 and the cook top light never really worked it would come on and off if you shut the door to hard. Finally It BLEW badly and nobody was even near it. I need a light to cook, so got a new bulb. The original was glued in. Finally got that out and the new one in and it don™€™t shut off! Doesn™€™t do anything just stay on at Full light power. That obviously can™€™t be safe! So back with no light again.

Microwave is only 2 1/2 years old. The exterior light exploded. We were lucky that no glass went into our food. The socket was stuck. My husband was shocked twice, trying to get it out. Maytag sent me this replacement lightbulb. Lightbulb does not work at all. For an exterior microwave lightbulb to work, I will now have to pay a minimum of $130 for service, with no guarantee it will not happen again. Ridiculous. Not happy.

Dim, Overheats, Doesn't Last, Need Screwdriver

The design of the over the range microwave is terrible in that changing the bulb should not require a screwdriver, the bulb is halogen and gets hot (melted on bulb and melted the glue in the socket to another one) and is too dim. No LED can be used. The microwave is extremely inferior to a hood vent (condensation from boiling and grease from cooking get on my upper cabinets and the ceiling is getting ruined) and grease gets inside despite the filter and it does not open for cleaning. I order two replacement bulbs (went through two in year despite shutting off light when not using stove) and one arrived smashed. Dealing with phone calls and chat for about an hour to get a small smashed bulb replaced. Customer servicer is atrocious and frustrating. There are no other options.

Light bulb doesn't last - buy 2 or more

My Maytag/Whirlpool microwave goes through two of these bulbs per year. This last one only lasted maybe 4 months, so if you buy one of these, you may want to buy at least 2 or 3.
