It took a while to find; but I was finally able to purchase a replacement cooktop! My original one was 20+ years old and no store had any in stock nor online! I wanted to upgrade the appearance of my kitchen with a different color scheme. This unit is larger than the previous cooktop; causing the installer to enlarge the hole in my granite for a perfect fit! Then after adjustment of the gas flame, my food was not cooking too fast, I am thoroughly loving the way my food is now turning out!

Great 36" JennAir gas cooktop

Looks Beautiful! I purchased the 36' JX3 (JGD3536GB) in black. The knobs are aligned well, and the control panel directions are easy to see and read. Overall, it's well designed and sturdy. Each burner has a different BTU/H rating. The copper flame spreader looks fantastic against the black. The grates are somewhat heavy, have a flat surface (no pot or pan rocking), and have rubber "feet" at the bottom of each to avoid scratches. The downdraft feature is adequate. I only wish it had a light indicator that would illuminate anytime the burners were in use. My 26-year-old JennAir had that feature and thought it was great for safety. Hope this lasts as long as my old one!

Great cooktop!

I bought this a month ago, after 2 months of research, 1 month of it being on order and then 1 month waiting for the gas company to install. I™€™ve never used gas before but I use cast iron cookware a lot and my wife was always after me when I used them on our glass cooktops. Fell in love with this cooktop first time I used it, big burner heats my big skillet really quick, smaller burners are good for the other pans and the downdraft effectively pulls all the odors and smoke down into the filter. We bought the ventless downdraft kit to go with the cooktop and it seems to be working great. Highly recommended!

Downdraft fan works well, not silent, but not overly noisy - basically what expected when venting smoke. Only had for one month, but performing well. very satisfied with our choice.

The original Cooktop was installed on December 9, 2021 and we had problems of ignition on a burner resulting in excessive gas exposure. We worked with JennAire service and Diamond Service. After multiple visits by Diamond, the problem was not resolved. The JennAire representative sent a complete new cooktop which was installed on March 14, 2023 by the JennAire dealer Alexander and Ray's. The new cooktop works excellently and this is the cooktop I am rating on this review.

Have had this installed for about 6 months now. It has worked well for everything from long simmering soups to holiday candy and chocolate dipped treats. At first the flame was too high to simmer anything but each burner can be adjusted to get a very low flame. It™€™s also a good looking center piece for our kitchen remodel. Because of the size and being in the island makes it possible for 3 or more people to get their inner chef on at the same time.

Not sleek but very functional

Bought the JenAir to replace an existing downdraft. Fit was a little tricky as I had to find a steel space filler, then paint and sand it. I lost a shelf and drawer due to the design of the unit. When all is said and done, I am happy with the cooktop. I chose black so dirt would not show up easily. My husband does not love the look of the unit as it has a high profile but unless we switched to a sleek induction unit, this is the best it gets. Overall, pleased with the functionality of the cooktop.

I love my new cooktop. My house was built I. The 90s when downdraft was much more common. I spent a lot of time researching the best way to update my kitchen but I saw this cooktop in an appliance showroom and I loved it. An elegant design. The downdraft fan does a great job venting the kitchen. I would absolutely recommend this for anyone with a downdraft setup.

Electric to gas swap out

This is a replacement for the electric 4 element version which came with the house we purchased. JennAir did some nice modifications to this newer model. The downdraft now has a plastic catch tray closer to the top which makes it less likely to rust and easier to clean when you spill something down the vent opening. The grease filter is also smaller making it easier to clean. It would be nice if the exhaust fan below the unit had the option to configure the discharge on either side vs. just the left side. This would give you more flexibility for installation. The burners work great and give you a wide variety of highly controllable heat. It would also have been nice if the vent fan was made to have infinite speeds like the old model it replaced instead of three dedicated speeds. The only true negatives I have are the burner knobs were slightly misaligned upon removing the unit from the shipping packaging. I was able to get them almost perfect but had to push on them quite hard to move the valve bodies within the unit to get them to align with the mounting collars. The other issue was as others have stated, the gasket for sealing it to the counter top didn't come in the packaging and we had to order it from JennAir. It took a week and a half to get the seal. JennAir representatives were very nice and helpful but this issue should have been corrected by now and the gasket should have been expedited to us.

This item..great reviews, works as expected. Once installed, I noticed all the knobs were offset. It appears the knobs are all attached to the same platform therefore there's no fixing it. About 1 wk after install, one of the black cast iron burner covers started peeling. It comes down to these appliances are all the same. I wouldn't spend the extra money again.

We purchased our cooktop relying on great reviews etc. Although the unit works great, the unit is obviously factory made. The knobs are offset and the cast-iron burners are chipping. You can only communicate thru dealers which makes addressing such concerns a real pain. Our cooktop would not be the beautiful sleak cooktop seen on JennAir's website.

After moving into our new home, I found performance of the existing induction cooktop very unsatisfactory. This was especially true considering my previous home had a Wolf gas cooktop. We love cooking on gas again and, in particular, LOVE this JennAir cooktop, It may be a better unit than the Wolf was and is a great value for the cost. Plenty of heat - I actually had to turn the flame height down.
