For the finest selection of quality built-in appliances, the building,
remodeling and design community knows that the Jarrell Company has led the
industry for more than 50 years.
The Jarrell Company was founded in 1947 as a partnership between two brothers,
James (Buddy) and Melton Jarrell. The brothers sold a new-fangled product
called a dishwasher to contractors and builders in and around Dallas. In
addition to the increasingly popular dishwasher, the company also sold and
installed range hoods for gas ranges sold by dealers, department stores and
builders and was one of the first companies in the country to sell built-in
ovens. Then, the space (and back) saving devices were a mere 21 inches wide --
today they average 30 to 35 inches and above.
The Jarrell Company has seen a lot of changes in appliances over the years, but
one thing has never changed and that is the demand consumers have for quality
goods and services. For that reason, the Jarrell Company has evolved to meet
the needs of the building and remodeling industry in order to serve its clients
with the top brand names in built-ins as well as provide the finest in sales
and service.
As the company grew, it moved to its current location at 2651 Fondren in 1964.
In 1968, the company was incorporated as Jarrell Distributors, Inc. with the
stock being owned equally by the two brothers. In 1969, the Jarrell brothers
bought the building, which sits on a little less than two acres of land, and
contains 46,000 square feet of showroom, office and warehouse space.
Over the years, The Jarrell Company has become a distributor of brand name major
home appliances in the greater Dallas Metroplex area, with the company
distributing products from such manufacturers as Sub-Zero, Dacor, Wolf, Asko,
Scotsman, Independent, and General Electric-Hotpoint. Serving builders,
remodelers, architects, designers and their clients has been the focus of the
Jarrell organization from the beginning.
In 1985, Melton Jarrell passed away. The company purchased Melton Jarrell's half
interest in Jarrell Distributors, Inc. and continued to add new dimensions to
its selection by adding its European and domestic lines listed above. In
addition, the company expanded its geographic coverage of certain products into
west and east Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
On September 25, 1995, the employees of Jarrell Distributors, Inc. acquired all
issued and outstanding stock of the company through an Employee Stock Ownership
Plan from its founder and Chairman of the Board, James Jarrell, Jr.
Jarrell Distributors has exceptionally low turnover in its personnel, who are
known in the industry as many of the finest and most reputable in their field.
The Jarrell Company furnishes top quality appliances to many of the finest homes
in the Dallas region. The company's products and services are available through
Dallas' finest volume and custom builders in every price range. The company
also has a commercial division to provide built-in appliances for executive
offices, break rooms, lunchrooms, executive clubs and school cafeterias.
On May 1st, 2002, Jarrell Distributors was acquired by the Westye Group.
